A new study has found that women tend to be more charitable than men, according to researchers at the Women’s Philanthropy Institute at Indiana University’s Center on Philanthropy. Boomer women are especially more generous, donating 89% more than men matched to their income levels, number of children and amount of education.

Research conducted by Indiana University’s Centre for Philanthropy for the US consultancy, Campbell & Company, has discovered that the Millennials – those born since 1981 – and Generation X – those born between 1964 and 1980 – are an underestimated and untapped resource. Accounting for factors such as education and income levels, the research found there was essentially no difference in rates of giving between generations.
