So, not a bad picture of what’s happening online in the US. Here are some factoids from the most recent dashboard : In the last 12 months (updated 6 June), 1,072,329 online donors gave $217,148,597. On December 31st, 52,495 donors gave $13,386,995 … just over 6% of all.

Another Online Fundraising Benchmark Study

Two weeks ago The Agitator reported on Convio’s online benchmarking study , which was based on data from nearly 600 clients of that online fundraising and engagement firm. These groups raised $114 million online in 2010. Convio reports a 40% increase in online fundraising revenue in 2010 over 2009, while M&R reports only a 14% increase for its sample (10% excluding International groups — read: relief appeals).

That’s a key finding in Blackbaud’s just-released 2010 Online Giving Report. For this purpose, online giving is measured against total fundraising revenue reported to the IRS by organizations studied. The Report includes 24 months of online giving data from 1,812 nonprofit organizations from The Blackbaud Index of Online Giving, online major giving data from 2,190 nonprofits, and both online and offline data representing $5.1 to be exact.

According to a recent article in the Chronicle of Philanthropy , “online donations rose sharply last year.” Blackbaud reported 5,000 of its customers raised 10% more dollars online in December but didn’t specify what the increase was compared to.
