I’m Dead, Since 2003

The Agitator

Yesterday’s post, When To Give Up On A Donor , kicked off a good discussion of how to approach lapsed donors. And I want to preview … Roger has written a spectacularly thorough post on that subject which we’ve scheduled for Monday. It’s an entire mini-course with a treasure of pertinent links. A post you’ll want to study and archive. It’s heavy lifting.

Has Generosity Peaked?

The Agitator

Whereas 68% of families gave in 2003, only 56% did so in 2015. Call me Chicken Little, but I’m afraid. And maybe you should be too. For over 15 years the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy (Indiana University) has tracked the giving of nearly 10,000 families and individuals in the US. Their newly released data is here — Generosity for Life. The bad news is that American generosity seems to have peaked … in fact, it did so in 2005, when average giving was $1,024.

Email Rules to Live By

A Small Change

The law governing mass emailing is often referred to as CAN-SPAM Act of 2003. Many fundraisers are fuzzy on the rules of email solicitations.
