Thanks to everyone who commented on my post Help Me Convince My Boss To Use Social Media . Not only did you offer some great support and tips, but the 24 comments I got were real evidence that social media really does work! After giving my pitch on social media at the directors retreat my boss encouraged me to create a social media task force to help coordinate our efforts. I owe you all a Starbucks, which I’m happy to buy you when you come to visit me at my home store on 627 Tremont Street, Boston .

The more I watch companies expand marketing departments to include social media positions that put a premium on tech skills versus marketing experience .. The more I see social media consultants focus on old/traditional messaging wrapped in new/social media Web 2.0 .. The more I wonder .. I

Subtitle : Motrin's We Feel Your Pain Ad Campaign Targeted To Moms: Proof of the Influence of Social Media
What I found was a video that was apparently an element of Motrin's We Feel Your Pain campaign that was targeted to moms.
The majority of tweets were from moms who were Passionately outraged about the video. Background
Today sipping my morning coffee I clicked into Twitter and was intrigued by a tweet from @chrisbrogan.

However it became crystal clear that although Diva Marketing celebrated its 5th blog-birthday my social media network is more global than local. What is happening in Atlanta social media marketing? Where are the Atlanta women in social media marketing? " A couple of weeks ago Mashable held a smashing mash in Atlanta for over 400 of its closest friends .. who signed up before the fire marshalls could call Stop!

Many nonprofits have already dipped their toes into social media. Or they put event photos on Flickr, or buy a Flipcam to get videos on YouTube. But first, understand that social media is not about marketing, it’s about community . To succeed with social media, you have to genuinely appreciate the idea of community—offering help flickr/luc legay

Over the weekend, we came upon this segment from Current TV , discussing how non-profits are using social media in innovative ways to battle the economic downturn. Particularly interesting information on "aggregators." Enjoy!

Before my boss left for vacation last week he said to me: “At the retreat I want you to talk about how we can use social media for prospect research, fundraising and advocacy.” wasn’t surprised that he asked me to talk about social media. But then I realized that while I was an avid user of social media I had more questions than answers about social media. A summer ritual here on the development team is planning for the next fiscal year, which begins October 1st. Part of that planning process involves a half-day retreat for directors

The blogs are all a twitter (Twitter's twittering, too) with the release of Digital Snippets, a new web service designed to take the work out of creating the ultimate Social Media Release (SMR). Unlike a press release that locks down the story and presents the "company line" on a topic, the SMR is designed as building blocks for other content creators--bloggers and reporters who might like to tell their own story using your photos, graphs, videos and news updates. Digital Snippets comes from the group that did this SMR for Ford . The tool itself is among a new generation

Social networks are shiny and exciting. If you pass the quiz below with flying colors, you can begin the research phase associated with social networking (find out where your supporters are already spending time online; decide which medium is most appropriate for your audiences; etc.). Never fear: Network for Good can help you there, too.) Do you tell your story through pictures, videos or podcasts? Millions of people are connecting on them every minute of the day. They're passionate and engaged. They must be ripe for the fundraising picking, right?
