My big three channels are now Twitter , LinkedIn and my Blog . needed an effective mobile way to manage the numerous government and client department back-channel Twitter conversations that I had set-up on my laptop using Tweetdeck. Forgetting the fact that news of declining newspaper readership is all over newspapers themselves, I begin to wonder at moments like this if certain communications people have ever read a single magazine/publication/journal/article/blog from their industry. blog, twitter, social network, photo/video sharing site, etc…), then you may as well not be present at all. I asked a senior government communications employee for their communications objectives the other day. Their response was ” to be on the cover of The Globe & Mail” (our national Canadian newspaper).

Social media is a perfect marriage for public sector and non-profit initiatives; Nobody is trying to sell you anything. Rather than logging into Facebook, Twitter, Jaiku, Bebo, etc…you simply log into one LifeStream application such as FriendFeed or Plaxo and all your updates are aggregated into a new custom “lifestream” feed.
