A Google search for the same phrase returns some 4,500 results – and a quick flick through confirm that they really are all about the ‘real’ Charlie Simpson. Now, UNICEF clearly supported Charlie really well once they’d heard that he wanted to fundraise for them – in pretty well every photo and video he’s wearing a branded T-shirt and the charity’s PR team must have helped with many of the media interviews. There have been many stories around the world of generosity shown in response to the terrible earthquake that hit Haiti in January.

NTEN will be holding a 5-part webinar series focused on Google Grants and how to use those pesky Google Adwords. The best part--the series is being presented by members of the Google Grants team, so you'll be learning from people who live and breathe this stuff everyday. Google Grants is specifically for 501(c)(3) organizations, so we (c)(6)ers may be out of luck on the free advertising front. But here's the thing. Adwords are easy to set up.
When the National Women's Law Center first applied for a Google grant - $10,000 worth of free advertising each month through Google's AdWords program - my co-workers and I knew it was at least worth trying. Google AdWords charges are calculated on a cost-per-click basis. Now, we're seven months into our Google grant, and with it we've been able to bring It was free , after all. While we didn't know what to expect from the program, once we got going we were amused by the idea of the $10,000 limit. Check out the official guidelines .
Rather than paying for the copying of records, picking them up, and delivering them to another member of your health care team (whether they be a specialist, family member, home care provider or healthcare advocate ), invite them to view it for up to 30 days. That is the innovation introduced this week by Google Health and flagged by Dana Blankenhorn at ZDNet Healthcare .  Sharing your personal health record with anyone you choose just became easier. Apart from reducing the price and increasing the convenience of coordinated healthcare to the consumer , the private sector's
Coincidentally, or not, The Wall Street Journal [subscription needed for access to entire article online] today tells the story of a new type of collaboration between P&G (the iconoclastic consumer marketing organization) and Google, one that involves an employee exchange program. About 2 dozen employees are sitting in on the other’s training and strategy meetings, learning the culture in ways that will (hopefully for Google) lead P&G to invest more ad dollars in online media where they are well behind the curve among major brands spending an estimated 2% of their marketing budget
As a result of my interests in personal tech and communications, I often find myself telling friends and colleagues about a Web site for tracking down the address of a prospective donor , or an easy way they can keep up with the issues their nonprofit addresses or a free Web-based calendar, task, and contact management application that can help individuals and teams be more productive. In fact, much of the advice here will be pretty basic, as I find that even many brilliant leaders in the social sector know little about RSS , blogs as communications tools for nonprofits , or all
Fascinating article by Randy from SEOMoz about how Google potentially caps the # of URLs it will index from your site. This is particularly a problem for my team at EWG for a few reasons: Until I came on board, they did not have an online marketing team, so that robot.txt file was not utilized (and we are still working on it). This organization has been online since the beginning of the Internet, and old reports are still live online. Walking staff through which pages should be live and which could be retired can be a time consuming process
The clearer you are, the more likely it is that your org will make an impact with these tools  -- whether you're just monitoring conversation about your org via Google Alerts, have a two-pronged approach with Facebook fan and cause pages or are experimenting on several fronts. Ensures your team is in sync with each other, rather than working (usually unknowingly) at cross purposes. Social media is a free-flowing, wide-open phenomenon that needs to be handled and handled well. So frame its use for your staff, volunteers and base.

As the economic downturn took hold last fall, SCORE team examined whether their newsletter strategy was doing enough to reinforce how SCORE’s offerings can help small-business owners. Here is one of the four strategies they used to overhaul their e-newsletters: The team developed a research process to identify newsletter articles and interview subjects that were timely and relevant to their audience. The SCORE Association, relies on two email newsletters to establish the organization’s expertise, credibility and value as a business training and mentoring service. MarketingSherpa
