Yesterday, Michelle Obama announced the creation of a new White House Office of Social Innovation intended to invest $50 million in innovative nonprofit efforts. This effort will be spreaheaded by Sonal Shah, the former head of global development at Google, Inc.
We have all heard how Barack Obama leveraged social media during the campaign ( just Google it… ). More specifically, I’m interested as to how President Obama will continue to leverage social media under White House restrictions. Congratulations to the entire Obama team on a job well done! Obama.
That is the innovation introduced this week by Google Health and flagged by Dana Blankenhorn at ZDNet Healthcare.  And if you missed receiving what President Obama called the hottest ticket in town , Rebecca Adelman was live-blogging from the White House Forum on Health Reform today. Merlin Mann has built an online empire around the concept and even did an hour-long workshop for Google staff on it. You probably read how Thomas Gensemer of the Obama email marketing team proclaimed that nonprofit e-newsletters are a waste of time. The newsletter goes out a few times per month. Inbox Zero. Super relevant. Ask them!
Not all high school programs require volunteering, and Google "High School Mandatory Volunteering" and turns out there is quite the debate on the Internet about it. Reach: Look at what Obama's army was able to do for him. Recently, my mother and I spent a morning volunteering a very small local nonprofit. Is it even constitutional?
