Last week, an article in the Washington Post reported that since its founding last year, the Facebook and MySpacec "Causes" Applications have raised over $2.5 Causes is an application on MySpace and Facebook that allows users to donate to their favorite charities and non-profits through their profiles and recruit friends and families.

Most nonprofits are now dabbling in social networks, according to a new survey on the nonprofit industry’s use of social networking for marketing and fundraising from NTEN, Common Knowledge and ThePort Network. Nonprofit communities on Facebook are still relatively small, with an average size of 5,454 members.

It's more transparent than Facebook, more anonymous than Evite. It made me really appreciate the value of associations as a vital networking resource.
