Not to get too zen on you, but consider this: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" This highly credible study notes that there have been important changes in the online world that affect e-mails, including the huge growth in social networks like MySpace and Facebook , leading to an overall decline in the performance of email newsletters. More people use these alternatives ( Facebook , etc.) According to wikipedia , this age-old questions is a philosophical riddle that raises questions regarding observation and knowledge of reality .

So, I’ve been working on a Facebook thing. Facebook has just hit 350 million users . this means Facebook -- as a one-stop-shop for sharing links, video, and photos, and being in touch with their circle. But just because I think a Facebook thing – okay, a class – would be good for you, doesn’t mean that you agree. And by “working,” I mean procrastinating letting you know about it. Reason being, I’m not sure if you want it. Sure, I think it would be helpful for you. Research shows that more and more people are using their social networks -- in the U.S.

Selective Twitter for Facebook
This Facebook application (add it to your personal Facebook profile) lets you update your Facebook status through Twitter by adding #fb to the end of your tweet. There are other applications that update your Facebook status every time you tweet. But I don’t want I’ve received several questions about the Twitter tools I use, so here are my five favorites. Yes, to use Twitter as efficiently as possible, you actually need to do more than what Twitter.com offers!

Looking at some research from Pew Internet on the rise of social network sites (you know: Facebook , MySpace , and other services where people hang out and chatter), we find some interesting facts about who's actually taking part. I'll bet I can guess where most of your donors fall.

I just completed a survey on Social Media Marketing ( Facebook , MySpace , Blogging, etc) of 150 of the nation’s nonprofits that fall into what I call “Main Street Nonprofits.” Of those respondents who are using social media marketing tools, Facebook is the dominant tool, with nearly twice as many organizations using Facebook as MySpace , which was No. About 20 percent said By this I mean local, community-based nonprofits serving a local community – rather than the big national nonprofits. The survey was done because so many community nonprofits are grappling

Our goal with social media in the short-term is to apply some of the things we’ve learned to our signature fall event, Halloween Town . I Facebook. Many have described Facebook as a great “bulletin board” but that’s about it. How do Thanks to everyone who commented on my post Help Me Convince My Boss To Use Social Media .
