As many of us celebrate this accomplishment, I want to extend my thanks and props, first and foremost, to Bob Marshall for his untiring efforts and perseverance to co-lead our work with the HC/HIT workgroup and organize the outreach to the social marketing community and stakeholders during the public comment period. The other important evaluation gap was filled by the Florida Prevention Research Center whose leadership committed to, and submitted a design for, a national survey to monitor progress towards subobjectives b and c . In a process that began more than 15 months ago , the US national health objectives are beginning to take final form.

The community has approximately 3,000 active subscribers who read about 50,000 articles every month. Of the four hours it takes me to create an article, easily one hour is spent researching. Relationships don't matter .. to some people. Bloggers like to build relationships with the people who pitch them stories; however, that is not always the case for content

It’s not often that a charity gets a mention in the science and technology magazine Wired, but the forthcoming edition of Wired UK includes a great write-up on Cancer Research UK’s project crowdfunding site MyProjects – heralding it as a ‘ radical approach to transparency in charities ‘.
But it is certainly the best project crowdfunding site that I’ve seen from a medical research charity and it does provide a level of transparency, through project-specific funding, that most other charities still shy away from.
To be honest I’m not sure that MyProjects is quite as radical as the article suggests.

How can we entice more of them here? Our friends at Enterprise Community Partners (a nonprofit national leader in investment capital and development services for affordable housing and community revitalization) spent some time wondering, and a whole lot more time acting. The deck includes research topics, creating donor profiles and personas and six strategies to online outreach. Does this sound familiar? "Prior to 2008, we had no coordinated online plan. Online donations trickled in on their own."

And no, it doesn’t make

There is a lot of great writing and research out there, by people like Beth Kanter and Rachel Happe , about finding the right social media metrics for nonprofit organizations. SO if you want a quick review of what is going on with this research, the bottomline is: most of the popular ideas adults have (oh, and the media that promote them) about teen use of the internet are wrong. The media release from the Foundation notes the significant findings: There is a generation gap in how youth and adults view the value of online activity.
Adults tend to be in the dark about what youth are doing online, and
often In the 2-page research brief of the study [pdf] , the authors draw these implications from their work: Adults should facilitate

Stephanie Strom wrote States Move to Revoke Charities' Tax Exemption , published February 27, describing how poor states are seriously considering charging taxes to the nonprofits within their jurisdiction (which of course are granted the benefit of tax free dollars in reciprocity for the services and programs that they provide to communities at no or low costs to beneficiaries). As Strom asserts, what about the critical services that nonprofits provide to our communities, especially to those with no or little resources? From The New York Times ... As Strom indicates in her

new research report just released by cause branding pros at Cone shows that 79% of those online are behind orgs harnessing email, Web sites and social media to build awareness, grow giving and motivate action. That's what the research tells us. If you buy my take, then focus on building communities, not dollars.

The site is the core of the NetSquared community so its effectiveness is vital to the success of the organization. Crafted a wish-list of redesign wants and needs from that input, and shared next steps with the community.
Creates redesign mockups, one site section at at time -- and inviting the community back into the conversation.
I'm continually on the prowl for strong nonprofit communications models to share with you since there's no better way to learn how to strengthen your own initiatives. And I have a great one for you today.
