In the fall of 2008 she was honored by the ASPCA with their “Kid of the Year” award for her efforts. Judith Sol-Dyess was touched by the people she saw who lived at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, where she works as the Sr. Judith created a simple yet effective website called Project30W named for the buildings address, 30 W Chicago Ave. This Friday, March 20, John Kenyon will join me in presenting a webinar called “ Creating Online Evangelists: How to Excite and Motivate Your Supporters .” 8221; Who are these online evangelists that your nonprofit

Here's another example of a nonprofit falling victim to ad agency abstraction of their message:
This was done for the Greater Chicago Food Depository by the Leo Burnett ad agency (I don't recommend clicking through; it's one of the most overblown, hard-to-navigate websites you'll see all week).
The same campaign also has some print ads that you can see here , here , and here .

0160; If you came to my hometown of Chicago and wanted a good artistic experience I could point you in 50 different directions. How many times have we seen a theatre or a dance company do incredible work and then fall apart - in a spectacular fashion - for reasons that had very little to do with the work they were putting up?
When I look out into the arts world, I don't see a lack of talent. 0160; I see a lack of great arts organizations.

I was thrilled to see that Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago was honored by the Wall Street Journal as one of the Top Small Workforces in America . No matter how times we see great artists come together and then fall apart before their time we continue to believe that all we ned is "better art" and everything will be fine.
0160; They are the first nonprofit arts organization to receive such an honor.
I hope Steppenwolf talks a lot about how they won that award because if they do, they may help to reveal one of the deepest, darkest secrets of the arts world:

So let's unscrew that jar and see what falls out... PSFK points us to a Chicago Times article about two guys who decided to get militant and do something about it. It's been way too long since the last installment of the Tip Jar, my collection of recent odds and ends from the world of social marketing to pass along to you. How much effect would you think a checkbox would have on someone's decision whether or not to become a potential organ donor?

0160; For example, September is a HORRIBLE month to seek press because everyone is focused on the "fall season" being presented by your town's major arts organizations. 0160; If you live in Chicago you'll see the "technical" story covered by certain press over the next few weeks.
Now that you are working on a strategy to reach your internal and external stakeholders, we can turn our eyes back toward the press.
Here's how to give yourself the best shot possible at getting a feature article on your work:
