If you’re planning or evaluating any form of social media activity, then it’s worth taking a look at eMarketer’s summary of a recently released research report examining which marketing uses of Facebook and Twitter are working best.

It included terms from 2009 such as friend (as a verb—thanks, Facebook); Tweet (good luck not using that one, nonprofiteers); and chillaxin’ (which I’m pretty sure isn’t a word to begin with, but yes, it’s tremendously annoying and disturbingly ubiquitous). But hey, that just gives us something to strive toward throughout 2010. Source: Duck Call blog from Big Duck. Recently, Lake Superior State University published its 35th annual List of Banished Words for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness. Well, that got us thinking… What words do we nonprofit people overuse

You can connect your blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Does that landing page urge visitors to discuss the topic on Facebook or Twitter? If someone starts on Facebook, how are you encouraging them to sign-up for your e-newsletter? Tomorrow I’m presenting a brand new webinar on How to Integrate Your Website, Email Newsletter, and Social Media Sites . It was the #1 requested topic in last fall’s survey of what you wanted to see on the weekly webinar series schedule.

I’ve confirmed with Network for Good , Capital One’s donation processing partner, that the donations were transmitted to the nonprofits on January 15, 2010. Network for Good processes payments for GuideStar , Facebook Causes , and many others. It’s time to share the results of my 2009-2010 “What I Got When I Gave” Experiment. The point of this experiment is to see what kind of communications response I get in return for unsolicited donations to national charities.

But what of Twitter, Facebook, even Foursquare? Facebook has been a great place to gather background information on prospects. (Not Mine is open to Facebook users within the “Boston Network.”) 350 million people on Facebook and you think it’s going away? Seems lately the more I talk to nonprofits about cause marketing the more I talk about social media and how the two are inseparable. Unfortunately, many aren’t quite sold that these two belong together.

As marketers began to use social media platforms like blogs, Twitter, Facebook, etc., When a client hires an agency to write content for their blog, twitter account, Facebook page, we are wondering about the level of transparency by an agency writer on a client's social media channel.
Rick Short - In 2010, the "rules" are that the blogger/tweeter is authentic, or is

Take Facebook, which has a cause component. While supporting causes via Facebook is still in its infancy, it will grow. And if they can get that on Facebook, or on Foursquare, or in their next visit to Starbucks –things they do everyday for reasons outside of philanthropy–that might preclude a separate tool like CauseWorld.
Beth Kanter recently wrote on CauseWorld , which is essentially a “cause version” of Foursquare .
Like foursquare and gowalla, you open the application on your phone and see local businesses (instead of showing everything
