Octavia Butler was a famous science fiction writer who died in 2006. Her advice on how to choose leaders, from an interview in 2002, seems to me to be still relevant for your nonprofit: “Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought. To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears. Are you new here?

Three years have passed, this May, since the Pension Protection Act of 2006 passed, and because of a tax filing requirement included in the law; charity organizations that gross $25,000 or less that have failed to file with the I.R.S.three consecutive years, now, are in jeopardy of having their tax exempt status revoked by the I.R.S.

The show Rusty and I cohost, Mostly ITP, was voted Best of Atlanta 2006 by Creative Loafing, and Best of Atlanta 2008 by Atlanta Magazine. Began in social media - I started my blog in April 2002 - so I recently had my 7th blogiversary. A couple of weeks ago Mashable held a smashing mash in Atlanta for over 400 of its closest friends.

Of course, this was wonderful - but it was difficult for a small health cause to raise money during 2001 and 2002. It can help to understand what, traditionally, does not get funded by grant money. Generally. Your organization must demonstrate that it has a plan to sustain itself, after start up. No one wants to donate to a sinking ship!
